WEB Contracting, Inc. was established in 2004 by Walter E. Burkhart, Jr., Lynette Beck Burkhart’s late husband, who proudly served in Vietnam as a decorated helicopter combat pilot (Warrant Officer), receiving medals / commendations for valorous conduct for both air and ground action. During his tours in Vietnam, spraying Agent Orange was one of his frequent missions and, many times, he would take hostile fire and the tanks holding Agent Orange would be pierced, releasing streams of the chemicals that the blades from the choppers would spread throughout the interior of the helicopters, drenching the pilot and co-pilot. Walter had extreme exposure to Agent Orange as a result of his missions.
After his honorable discharge he experienced skin reactions that doctors could not explain. Years later he was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma of the esophagus and was ultimately classified as 100% disabled from his service in Vietnam. In September 2006, Walter passed away from cancer. Per Federal regulations, a surviving spouse may continue the SDVOB business for a maximum of 10 years after the veteran’s death, which Lynette chose to do with WEB Contracting. Walter was a great asset to the business. He was widely respected by those with whom he worked, and Lynette continues to run the business with Walter’s vision in mind. Walter established the criteria and standards that WEB continues to follow every day. We know he would be so very proud of our success.
Looking ten years into the future, we believe that we will continue on a path of growth and will increase revenues year over year. Our goal is to remain a small business. Our plans for business expansion include the southwestern Missouri and central Kansas marketplaces and possibly Iowa and Nebraska.
WEB will soon have an on line project management tool to enable timely and documented communication between our customers and our staff. The information surrounding a home remodel, business remodel or new construction project will be available for both parties to view and discuss. The site will allow the end-user to enter via secure user name and password. Once in the site, both parties can view a calendar related to the project, view project plans and view and /or upload photos related to the project. Via this tool, both parties can address questions, changes or suggestions while keeping the project in motion and on schedule.
